I am watching the Giants play ball and saw something funny. A new rookie pitcher was going to the bull pin. He was wearing a pink Barbi backpack on both shoulders. The "newbies" have to carry all the supplies that might be needed in the bull pin in a Barbi backpack. This poor fellow had to walk from the dugout all the way to the Coors Field bull pin. Made me chuckle. I don't think this player minded carrying the pink supply bag because he was now in the big leagues, a dream he has had since he was an 8 years old boy.
My 8th grade boy students carry pink Barbi backpacks too. These "young men" carry little flimsy Barbi, Ninga Turtles, Superman, Spiderman, Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake, and Care Bear backpacks. What a laugh.
