I want to share a "newer" song with you that we have sung a few times in the last 6 months at church. The song is accompianed with a beautiful musical score. There is a Higher Throne is sung (and I think written) by the same couple (Keith and Kristyn Getty) that sang In Christ Alone.
"There Is a Higher Throne”Words and Music by Keith & Kristyn GettyCopyright © 2003 Thankyou Music
There is a higher throne
Than all this world has known,
Where faithful ones from ev'ry tongue
Will one day come.
Before the Son we'll stand,
Made faultless through the Lamb;
Believing hearts find promised grace—
Salvation comes.
REFRAIN
Hear heaven's voices sing;
Their thund'rous anthem rings
Through em'rald courts and sapphire skies.
Their praises rise.All glory, wisdom, pow'r,
Strength, thanks, and honor are
To God our King, who reigns on high forever more.
And there we'll find our home,
Our life before the throne;
We'll honor Him in perfect songWhere we belong.
He'll wipe each tear-stained eye
As thirst and hunger die.
The Lamb becomes our Shepherd King;
We'll reign with Him.

Shells! I finally found your blog address!
Thank you for sharing these lyrics. I have the "In Christ Alone" CD, and am working on memorizing the more familiar songs that are sung at my church. What a way to encourage us to keep looking heavenward and running for the eternal prize, especially when the ways of the world continually pull us down!
If you want to go back to the classics and "get your hymn on", blues-country-rock style, Ashley Cleveland's "Men and Angels Say" will heat up the CD player (www.ashleycleveland.com).
I miss you, sister!
Jerre
Hi Jerre-pie!
So good to see that you found my blog. Thanks for the call back the other night. It was so good to hear your voice. I will try to give you a call later tomorrow afternoon.
Keep looking heavenward and leaning on Him for all of your hope and strength.
With love and care,
Shelly
I came across your blog while "surfing"... I was on Cherie Baker Vann's...who was on Elizabet's...who was on...you know how it goes.
Anyway, I love this song and the Getty's. They sang in our little country church this past Sunday night and they were wonderful. We gave their CD out to lots of friends at Christmas time.
Your blog is fun!
Blessings,
~Cherie
Hello Cherie,
Thank you for visiting my blog. Stop on by any time. My blog is a collection of many different aspects of my life with the desire to glorify our great God in heaven.
Continue to press on still more to know Him and to be known by Him,
Shelly
